Dear family and friends, If you have found this page, we trust you know about the Calvert family, and especially Mark’s medical journey over the past few weeks. Just a quick re-cap, none the less. Monday March 10th, Mark left the bench and went directly to the Phelps Health Emergency Room for symptoms dealing with memory and cognition and was immediately sent from there to Boone County hospital in Columbia. On Thursday, March 20th Mark underwent surgery to remove a mass in his left frontal artery lobe. On March 26th, Mark was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Obviously, we are shocked and still trying to process this news. It is also new enough that we are having to learn our medical options very quickly. We are already in conversation with the doctors about next steps which includes a schedule of Chemo/radiation. As you are hearing this news, you may feel shocked and emotional as we do. We ask that you join us in prayer. First while thanking God for His faithfulness and for His mercy in covering Mark. Pray for enlightenment and that God uses either doctors, medicine or the Holy Spirit to intervene on Mark’s behalf. We also ask that you allow us space to process our own emotions. Your support and encouragement are incredibly important and a blessing to us. We will need all of that and God’s Grace as we navigate the future. Please also be sensitive to help us protect Emma’s innocent understanding of what is going on. We will keep you updated to our victories and our challenges in the upcoming days and weeks.
