Hello community and friends, If you are here, you most likely know Desirae and/ or her husband Heath and two boys, Statham and Treyton. Desirae began having hip problems around 2017 maybe earlier. They were first addressed as labral issues, and she had subsequent surgeries on both hips, which were unfortunately unsuccessful. She spent a couple of years trying to figure out what was wrong, while managing the pain. In fall of 2023 she had an acute flair in pain in which she sought care, and imaging showed avascular necrosis (AVN) in both hips, which was deteriorating all the healthy tissue and bone leading her to her most recent hip replacements. One in February of 2024 and then the other this October. Which leads us to her current situation. Since October's surgery she has had multiple complications including severe pain and problems with healing. She knew “ something was just off”. On this Sunday Dec 29, her pain was unbearable and she started running a fever. She went to ER where they admitted her for a serious infection in her surgical hip joint replacement. She will under go yet another surgery on Jan 1, 2025 to remove infected hardware, wash out the infection and replace it with new hardware or an antibiotic spacer. She will than be on at least 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. At this point, there is no definitive time line on healing and recovery. It all just depends on what they find in surgery. Heath is preparing for her recovery at home, while working full time, taking care of two busy boys and their household. Desirae is scrappy and will surely come out of this stronger than ever, but in the meantime we can cover them with love and support. We know this healing journey affects all 4 of them. It can be daunting & exhausting for them to share this information to multiple people multiple times. Their needs will surely evolve overtime, so this page was set up as an efficient, less overwhelming place to share their story & needs to their community of friends & family. We know life is busy for everyone, so only help if and when you can. Most of all they need our love, support and positive words of encouragement.
