Hi Friends, As you likely know, Ute injured herself a few weeks ago when she fell down a set of stairs. The injury didn't appear to be significant at the beginning, and Ute was simply told to rest. Over the last 2 weeks, however, she has felt increasingly unwell and unable to deal with the pain. She has been in and out of emergency rooms, and doctors have been scrambling to identify and treat the problem. Today, Ute sent the A Rocha community a short message, to share that she would be heading into surgery. More details are yet to be disclosed, but we expect that she will need to spend at least 1 night in hospital. As we look ahead to the coming week(s) of treatment and recovery, we want to ensure that Ute has easy access to meals and groceries, as well as to visits, phone calls, and encouragements in whatever way she finds helpful. Since her family lives in Germany, this must be an isolating time for Ute. Let's make sure she feels well cared for -- all the more since she has been the heart of the Guest House and has served so many of us (staff, interns, volunteers, visitors) generously for over a decade!
