I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer at the beginning of this year. It came as quite a shock and I probably won't fully grasp it until after the surgery is actually over. I will be having a mastectomy of the right breast followed by reconstruction on February 25th. I will most likely be on oral chemotherapy post-surgery but hopefully no "hard-core" chemotherapy or radiation. That will be determined post-surgery after further testing of tumor and surrounding breast tissue. My expected time off work will work be 4 weeks pending how well I recover.
