Supporting the Eimers

Holmen, WI

Story

Hello everyone! This is Caitlyn (daughter of Matt and Deb). They have no clue I am starting this page, and if you know my parents you know they would insist that I not. They are two of the most generous and supportive (and hard headed) people I have ever met, even if I am a little biased. As some of you may know, my dad had open heart surgery in September of last year (2024). He got through recovery and cardiac rehab in typical Matt Eimer fashion, by being persistent and headstrong. However, in January (2025), he came down with what he thought was some sort of bug or virus. After visiting numerous health care establishments throughout the month of January, all of the health care professionals determined it to be a virus or another non-urgent illness. After losing 30lbs, countless fevers and sick days, he went to the emergency room for the second time, finally determining he had bacterial endocarditis, and that he was septic. To make matters worse, the infection had been running rampant in his system for so long that they determined his new heart valve he received in September to be completely ruined. That is when they determined he would need a yet another open heart surgery. The current plan is to receive IV antibiotics until March 28th (hooked up 24 hours a day), until they can control the infection and give him a new valve. Earlier this week (2/22/25), he was readmitted to the hospital with a blockage in his vertebral artery (possible stroke). While this is all going on, my mom is also in the process of planning a knee replacement of her own. The only thing they are currently looking forward to is celebrating being married for 40 years this July, however those plans are becoming more and more unfeasible. Needless to say, this has been a very rough month for my parents and our family. Both of my parents are currently out of work, due to being in the hospital, and the last thing we want them to worry about are bills, cleaning, meals, etc. They just need to be focused on getting better. Although they would never reach out for support (that whole hardheadedness thing), I know they have such a large support system in their lives. If you are able to donate a gift card (of any amount) or even send a few well wishes, it would mean so much to them and our family. Thank you so much, Caitlyn, Josh, and Jonathan
