Sarah’s Meal Train/Support Page 🤍

El Cajon, CA

Story

*UPDATE 11/13/24* Today Sarah will be having her surgeries (hysterectomy and reconstruction) at Sharp Mary Birch, the final step for her to move on from this chapter and put this all behind her! WOO HOO! She is expected to be home from the hospital on Friday, November, 15th. She will have another long 8 weeks of recovery but nothing we know she can't handle. Sarah greatly appreciated all the help, love and support the first time around so lets do it again! Unfortunately Rick was not able to get time off work this time around so the hardest part will be when she is home alone and can't access anything. So, if you'd like to help out again, she has added some new dates to the calendar. Thank you so much everyone! As we all know, Sarah has her upcoming surgery scheduled for Wednesday, June 5th at 12pm at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital and will be approximately 10-12 hours. She will have a long road to recovery ahead and as her support system, I know we all want to do what we can to help. This page is dedicated to do just that! Here we can show our love and support, help with meals/groceries, purchase Amazon/Target helpful wish list items, childcare and gift cards. While she recovers, we can all help pick up some of the slack with some simple meal planning, grocery shopping, and/or purchasing gift cards that she can use to place her own orders. In addition to the meal train, we have also set up dates in the calendar to help with playdates for Sophia on Saturdays. Please take a minute to scroll through the "Special Notes" section for dietary restrictions and meal ideas. In typical super organized Sarah fashion, she put together a list of favorite restaurants and their orders. I will include all the details below. When you have selected your date of choice, please make sure to add in the notes section of what you are planning on bringing so that they don't recieve duplicates. Please note the first week will likely need to be things like smoothies, soups and things that Sarah can eat/drink with a straw and not use utensils. If you have any questions, please feel free to call/text me (Amanda Rizzo) at 818-674-3329 or Michelle Scott at 619-248-3186. We will update this page periodically as we get a handle on how she is feeling once she is home recovering. Please make sure to follow this page and add your email address for updates and access to the calendar. The outpouring of support from all her family and friends is a true testament to how much she means to all of us, and she greatly appreciates all the help! We all know how strong and resilient Sarah is! She is going to kick cancer's ASS!! Best, Amanda & Michelle

Another great day! I had my post op appt with my Gyn and the pathology report came back clear for malignancy, so no cancer in the uterus, cervix or fallopian tubes they removed. My cysts are tissue based, so that's a relief. I had adenomyosis causing symptoms, so I'm relieved to not have that to deal with anymore. I will continue to be monitored every six months with a CA 125 (cancer antigen 125) blood test and pelvic ultrasound to watch the ovaries they left behind until they are removed after my 45th birthday. I will still be monitored by my oncologist every six months as well, to make sure breast cancer doesn't show back up in areas outside the breasts, but that's extremely unlikely. I am healing fabulously and feeling great!

Today is a great day! I had all of my stitches removed and all drains removed as well. What a relief! I will continue to wear the binder and compression wrap until I see my surgeon again on Dec 3. I see my other surgeon next Tuesday to review the pathology reports for the pelvic wash. The pelvic wash was when they took samples from every inch of my abdominal cavity to look for cancer or precancerous cells. They also did a full dissection of the fallopian tubes after removal, since that is where ovarian cancer typically starts. As long as the results come back clear, I can keep the ovaries until I am 45, then they will remove them. So we are hoping for that good news on Nov 26 at my appt. I'm feeling very optimistic.

Sophia is my hairstylist now, she does a great brushing. I Had an allergic reaction to the adhesive, so I had to go see my surgeon today, he gave me a steroid cream rx and took one of my drains out, yay! I am going back tomorrow to hopefully have the other drain removed, fingers crossed. I am able to slowly get around and I'm trying to walk as much as my body will allow. I had a lot of activity today, so I am pretty wiped out, but I'm doing really well. I'm determined to heal and move on with my life.

I'm home and settled in. Taking a little walk while pain meds are kicked in. And mostly sleeping. Doing great all things considered.
