Supporting Peentz

St. Petersburg, FL

Story

Peentz is a vibrant woman, full of life, passion for teaching Yoga and connecting deeply with students. She is inspired by poetry, by experiencing the natural world, listening to music and allowing her spirit to unfold through dance and the expressive arts. Peentz is gifted with a strong, loving and supportive family for which she is eternally grateful. Peentz recently received a diagnosis of cancer, for which she will soon begin treatment. She has an excellent medical team and is remaining hopeful and determined to face each moment with as much love, openness and grace as possible. To this end, she is taking a “sabbatical” from teaching so that she can give full energy to support her healing. She understands that many of her friends, students, and colleagues will want to offer support and to receive updates on her journey. To this end, we have set up this page, which will allow Peentz or members of her family to give health updates or suggest ways that you may want to offer support. By signing up, you will be able to see these, and be notified by email when there are new updates. Peentz appreciates any gestures of support (cards, emails, texts, etc.) but at this time is unable to respond individually. This page will help her tremendously to receive your love and for you to receive hers! With deep gratitude and joy.

Peentz -- your kind words after my wife Judy's death in 2019 have transformed the rest of my life -- through yoga I have found a wonderful new partner -- I am forever grateful for the gift of the Lynn Ungar poem you gave me at a group session after her death which challenged me to find her. Cancer sucks -- I've raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years in my personal effort to combat it. Heartily hoping that you will beat yours.

Dearest Peentz, May your strength, your resilience, and the love from all who love you, soothe you. And, above all, may you trust and heal. Sending love from my heart to yours. Cheryl Nelson

Dear Peentz, First, I am so sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with a cancer that requires such intensive interventions. I'm glad that you feel confident in your medical care team. I have been reflecting a lot on your impact on my life this past month. I have gone through so many stages of my life- dating, marriage, pregnancy, parenthood, and loss- with you to support me with the wisdom and guidance that you give in each and every class. Reading your messages has been humbling and inspiring. You continue to amaze me in your ability to use poetry and nature to support your outlook on life and our world. I continue to think of you each time I am on my mat, watching my preschoolers learn through play, watching my children grow, and (of course) as I watch spring unfold here in New England. Thank you to you and your family for taking the time to share your updates. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. With love, Lanie

Dearest Peentz, I am thinking of you and holding you close during this journey. When I think of all the times that you have led me to places of deep connection and peace in my body, I feel so thankful for precious you. I love imagining you on your porch watching the sky turn to dusk and opening yourself up to the vastness of the world. I am sending every bit of loving energy that I can muster south west towards St Pete to your beautiful teal blue/pink spirit. Blessings & Love, Ruth
