Hey everyone 👋🏾 On September 1st 2024, I moved to 3414 64th Ave Place, Unit A, Oakland, California 94604. I met with the guy who introduced himself as El, who then introduced me to Cecilia Carey, who introduced herself as the manager, and another guy named Lou, as the attorney for the property. El issued me a lease and a W-9 Form that was emailed to a program called, East Oakland Community Project. They assisted me with a move-in deposit in the amount of $2500, that would later be returned to me at move out. El denied ever receiving the check, but my case manager from the program confirmed that the check was successfully mailed and deposited. Fast forward to December 18th, 2024 - that morning, the sheriffs came and told my son and I to grab whatever we could and leave while proceeding to board all of our remaining property inside the unit, and we no longer had access. Come to find out the police know El as Eugene Tanner and is well known, to them, for moving families in and then the sheriffs would have to come and evict them. The Sheriff stated "Unfortunately, you're just caught in between a battle over property" - which leaves my son and I homeless.
