Story
In 2024, Alex was diagnosed with ovarian cancer—a battle she fought bravely and is now in remission! While we celebrate this victory, her journey is not yet over. To reduce her future cancer risks, Alex is preparing for the next step: a double mastectomy on February 28, followed by reconstruction surgery on March 7. Many people have asked how they can support Alex and her family during this time, so we’ve created this Give In Kind page to coordinate assistance and ensure she has everything she needs to heal comfortably. Ways You Can Help: - Meals: Providing homemade or delivered meals, dropping off food, or sending gift cards for easy dining options. - Books: Anyone how knows Alex knows that 'lay low' and 'relax at home' are not phrases regularly used in her vocabulary. Books (she likes thrillers and dramas) or other activities she can do at home to keep her busy would be appreciated. - Gift Cards: To help with meals, essentials, or anything else she may need. - Care & Encouragement: Sending words of love, cards, or small gestures to lift her spirits. Reach out via text, phone, or stop by for a visit. - Activities for the boys: Things that can entertain the boys will help Alex rest to heal from surgery. The boys love books (comics and sports books), bowling, arcades, skiing, sledding, movies, anything outside. - Entertainment: Share in the comments any recommendations for TV shows she can binge-watch during her recovery. Every act of kindness makes a difference. Whether it’s signing up for a meal or sending a thoughtful note, your support means the world to Alex. Let’s come together to help her heal and remind her that she is surrounded by love. Thank you for being part of Alex’s village. Your generosity and kindness will make this journey a little easier for her.
