Story
Hi everyone! We've started this page to support Zack as he kicks osteonecrosis' butt and recovers from hip replacement surgery! Zack was diagnosed with osteonecrosis in early February 2025. Osteonecrosis occurs when there has been a loss of blood in the body that results in the death of bone tissue. This has resulted in a 40% bone loss specifically in the right femoral head (aka ball of the hip) and as it has advanced and went undiagnosed for so long, it requires hip replacement surgery. Osteonecrosis is not the most common and in 75% of cases, the cause is unknown. For those who know Zack, he has had ongoing pain in his leg and hip since June 2024 that has only progressed where daily activities and even walking have become severely painful and difficult. As a bartender, he spends long hours on his feet without relief of the pain. This also means that Zack will be unable to return back to work or drive a car for approximately 6 weeks post-surgery. Following surgery there will be physical therapy twice a week for 6-12 weeks. Zack's surgery date was thankfully pushed forward due to the severity of osteonecrosis and is set for Wednesday, February 26 and will take place in College Station, TX by incredible surgeons who specialize in this area. He will need to stay the rest of the day and night in the hospital after the surgery for monitoring and can thankfully return home the next day. We're eager for Zack to have a healthy healing recovery so that he can experience painless mobility and enjoy day-to-day activities. Any and all help and support is incredibly appreciated. Zack is an incredible man full of life and who cares deeply for his friends and family. Being passionate about cooking and golf, he can't wait to be healthier than ever, whipping up new recipes in the kitchen, and back swinging strong on the golf course. We've organized this page for friends, family, community members, etc. to help us out in balancing daily needs like meals and offset the financial burden of being out of work for 6 weeks. There are open dates you can select to bring over a home-cooked meal. Not much of a chef or can't make the drive? There's options to deliver (DoorDash, Uber Eats) and send a meal. You can also find options on the wishlist as well that are helpful. We know it takes a team and express absolute gratitude for taking the time to support Zack through this medical experience. I will post updates as regularly as possible and please share with friends, family, and members in your community. For those that pray, we ask for your continued prayer leading up to and during surgery, and post recovery as well. With love and gratitude, Zack and Jordyn
Special Notes
Zack loves a good meal no matter the cuisine! Spicy or non-spicy, all meat, seafood, American or international fare are all great choices! High protein dishes will be especially helpful in his body's healing process. The only thing he is allergic to is scallops, an unlikely meal to send lol, but worth the notation just in case. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Jordyn at (805) 404-0773 and at jclowesadler@gmail.com
