Story
Hello everyone, I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, and it feels like my world has been rocked by an earthquake, shattering my once peaceful and solid foundation. The past month has been filled with uncertainty and fear as I navigate through countless decisions, each one carrying the weight of potentially making the wrong choice. In light of this, we've decided to create this page because I’ve heard from many that they want to show their support, and having been on the other side, I know how frustrating it can be to feel helpless. I want to assure you that there’s absolutely no pressure to contribute, but if you choose to, your kindness will go towards covering expenses for seeing a functional oncologist, Dr. Winkler, who specializes in Quantum Functional Medicine in Carlsbad. Due to the complexities involved with traditional cancer care, I’ll be paying out of pocket to see him alongside what insurance covers. On a lighter note, I recently began reading a book called ‘Defeat Cancer,’ which led me to the realization that I need an integrative or functional oncologist. It’s quite serendipitous that Dr. Winkler, the author of chapter 5, happens to be the doctor I’ve chosen. I firmly believe that his expertise can offer guidance in areas traditional oncologists might overlook, and I’m committed to doing everything in my power to be there for my children for many years to come. Creating a GoFundMe page is definitely outside of my comfort zone, but I’ve come to understand the importance of receiving and asking for support during this journey. Many people facing cancer tend to put others before themselves, but I’ve realized that in order to fully heal, I need to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the support of others. If contributing financially isn’t an option for you, please know that your thoughts, messages, and gestures mean just as much to me. Feel free to reach out via text or email—I would love to hear from you. We also have created a meal train option for those who have reached out hoping to support in that capacity. It will begin on June 1st and you can sign up though this site! Thank you all for your unwavering support and understanding during this challenging time.
Special Notes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I embark on my journey through cancer treatment, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your kindness and support. Your contribution to the meal train means the world to me and my family during this challenging time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Food being dropped off is welcome; however, since Emily lives in Bonsall, Gift Cards and local (Bonsall/Vista) delivery options may be easier. :) Due to dietary restrictions, we have made separate options to sign up for the meal train each day for Emily as well as Emily's family (3 additional persons). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ** Meals for Emily ** I wanted to provide some guidance regarding my dietary restrictions to ensure that the meals provided align with my current needs: > I am following a vegan diet with no gluten and no added sugar (even alternate sugars such as honey or sugar free sweeteners). > For beverages, please consider options such as water, sparkling water, or fresh green juices. > A few recommended ideas for meals and/or gift cards: - Thai Food (Fresh spring rolls, Ka prow basil with no sauce and mock duck) - Milk Organics - (Vista) / https://www.milkorganics.com/ - Sabor al Vida - (Vista) / https://www.saboravidacafeanddeli.com/ - Eris Vegan Food (Vista) / https://www.erisfoodcoca.com/ - Kung Fu Noodle (Vista) / https://www.kungfunoodle.com/ - Mrs Taco (Vista) / https://mrstacovistaway.weebly.com/ - Sprouts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ** Meals for Emily's Family (3 People) ** While I am on dietary restrictions, please note that my family are not picky at all. Meals for them would also be greatly appreciated and truly helpful during these times. Especially during the harder weeks when my energy level won't be as strong and I won't be as present for my little ones. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your thoughtfulness and consideration are greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping to make this journey a little bit easier. With heartfelt thanks!
