Story
My scoliosis surgery will soon be behind me, and healing will begin. I am determined to have a better quality of life so I can have many more fun adventures (and boating) ahead. The surgery will be done at Seton Hospital on 38th Street on Tuesday May 20th. This might change for unforeseen reasons.... too many to count. As of now, I have been told I will be in the ICU for several days, then move to the regular hospital for a total of 7-10 days. I will hopefully then be moved to St. Davids Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital on E. 32nd around May 27th and stay there up 7-10 days. Most likely I will be home around June 10th, although it could be earlier. Or later. It all depends on my progress at each step of my healing journey (and insurance approvals).... so I apologize for not being able to give concrete dates. I will need help, especially when I finally am strong enough to come back home again. I am hopeful that at least the first couple nights I get home, some of you will be able to stay with me. I will be incredibly limited as to what I can do and carry until my bones and vertebrae heal perfectly. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share with us if/when you will be on vacation after May 20th so all of us can see when you would be willing and able to help me. If you do come to the hospital, please make sure I am getting my pain meds on time. Nurses get busy and it is essential I not get behind the pain! Thank you thank you thank you in advance! I will get through this and be stronger than ever! I am starting with a smaller group of friends, and then I will expand to others after I get home to have some help delivering food or grocery shopping or taking me to appointments until I am able to drive.
Special Notes
Please park your car on my driveway outside my gate and walk through my "secret door". It is closest to the keypad and the "Be Kind" sign and I will have a ribbon tied onto the gate. You reach through the gate where you will see the hinge to open the secret door and step through. Dolly will hopefully soon be back with me after surgery and she has a dog door and I don't want to risk her escaping. Or to have to get my gate fixed for any reason. On a separate note.... not to be picky in any way..... I am not a fan of soups. Or beets.
