Story
On January 5th, Jennifer was as taken to the hospital with lots of concerns regarding her previously treated shingles and the strong meds making her sick…..or so we thought. After hours at Pagosa medical center and her in utter misery, it was confirmed she had developed meningitis. She was quickly flown to Denver, with her sister Kendra by her side. Their parents being close Denver were able meet them at UC Health quickly. Jennifer was rapidly declining and had to be sedated and put on a ventilator. On Monday she received more testing and her husband-Jesse, who had been working, finally arrived. They discovered not only does she have a viral meningitis/shingles meningitis, she also has bacterial meningitis and Ventriculitis. The day was filled with brain monitoring, testing, and lots of rest for her. While tackling the virus and the bacterial meningitis quickly with lots of antibiotics, she is still sedated. As of now, she is not out of the dark and has a long path ahead of her. With many unanswered questions and many long days and weeks ahead for her recovery, this will bring a burden to their financial life. While their 3 children are wonderfully taking care of by Jesse’s family, most of Jennifer’s family and close friends are back-and-forth to Denver, including Jesse, who will be taking a lot of time off work. That being said, if you know what a wonderful woman and a what a sweet little family The Bauers are-every little bit can help them. But most importantly…..PRAY! Please share this with any friends and family. *With our deepest gratitude, the Hilsabeck and Bauer families thank you for your support in prayer and for any donations received.*
