Story
Evelyn has needed to start dialysis while we wait for a kidney transplant. She is receiving dialysis at MHealth Fairview Mason Children’s kidney center. She needed a blood transfusion due to low hemoglobin and has to be on immunosuppressants for 30 days to help her body from hopefully not producing any antibodies that can make finding matching kidneys even harder. Then she will need to get MMR and chicken pox booster shots after the 30 days as they are live vaccines and aren’t supposed to be given when immunosuppressed, then she has to wait another 30 days to be able for them to active look for a kidney. We are hoping during our 60 waiting period they have someone who is willing to be a living donor, either directly to her or donate in her name to someone who is possibly a better match and then they would put Evie in to a database and find her the best match. While waiting we are staying at the Ronald McDonald house in Minneapolis. Meaning we are close to the hospital and don’t have to worry so much about the Minnesota winter weather. This also means that mom is on leave of absence and dad is driving a lot more to visit and go home and take care of the house.
Special Notes
