Hi everyone, this is Shantyl, Monique’s sister and Bryan’s sister-in-law. I wanted to share an update on Madeleine, their sweet 4-year-old daughter. A few weeks ago, their family came down with a stomach bug. While everyone else recovered, Madeleine never seemed to get better—she only got progressively worse. Concerned, Monique and Bryan took her to the pediatrician, who ordered labs and sent them home to wait for results. But in the meantime, things took a turn for the worse. Yesterday morning, they brought Madeleine to the ER after she suddenly became limp in Monique's arms. After many tests and doctors working quickly, a CT scan revealed that she has a brain tumor, which has caused obstructive hydrocephalus (fluid in the brain). She now has a drain in place. Last night, she had an MRI. This morning her care team and neurosurgeon met with them. They would like her to be in a calm, stable state for surgery. Therefore, surgery is scheduled for Monday. After the surgeon is out of surgeries today, he will review the MRI in more detail. After he does that, he will give more of an update on prognosis and surgery. Monique and Bryan don’t have much capacity to respond or reach out right now, but they feel all the love and support.
