Story
In March 2023, Rachel (Rach) Richmond was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Ascending Colon. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) of the colon is an extremely rare and aggressive cancer, accounting for less than 1% of all colorectal cancer cases. At the time of diagnosis, Rachel's primary cancer had already metastasized and spread to her liver. Rach has endured numerous tests, lab draws, IV fluids, and blood transfusions. She completed her first round of intense chemotherapy and will be starting her second round this week. Due to the rare and aggressive pathology of this cancer, Rach was accepted into the Mayo Clinic. Last week, they traveled to Minnesota for their first oncology appointment. The Mayo oncologist agreed to have Rachel's treatment managed close to home and will continue to provide oversight to her treatment plan. From the very beginning, Rach has said she is going to fight, and that is exactly what she is doing! Rach is fierce. Rach is strong. Rach is incredibly loved. Please join us in rallying around the Rachel, Jason, Evan, and Abbey to show our love and support during this difficult time.
