Story
We (Danielle and Josh) are very grateful for the kind offers of support received from our friends, colleagues, and church family as we go through a particularly difficult season of life! Sometimes it can be hard to answer the questions, “How can we help?” or “What do you need?” on the spot, as Danielle’s health situation is always evolving. So, we created this page to give our community some updates (so check back periodically!) and tangible ways to offer support. The details: In February, Danielle will be undergoing a stem cell (also called bone marrow) transplant to treat her relapsed Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer. Danielle will spend several weeks in the hospital for this procedure, first receiving chemotherapy and radiation, then an IV infusion of stem cells from a donor (not a surgery). In addition to dealing with side effects from chemo, the transplant will leave her immunocompromised for months and very susceptible to infection. She's only able to have this life-saving procedure because of a generous stem cell donor. Anyone can sign up to be on the registry; all it takes is a cheek swab. Be the match and find more at: https://www.nmdp.org/get-involved/join-the-registry Because of her compromised immune system, visitors will be kept to immediate family for the time being. She also cannot receive gifts of fresh flowers, fruit, vegetables, or cheese due to bacteria frequently present on these items. Our friends from church have set up a phone tree here if you'd like to sign up to give Danielle a call: https://takethemameal.com/CKUR6486 MORE INFO: What's a stem cell transplant? https://www.cancer.org/cancer/managing-cancer/treatment-types/stem-cell-transplant.html
