Hi loved ones, This is a page where we will give updates on Jana’s health, as well as provide opportunities to come alongside and support The Coverts in the coming months. As many of you know, in December it was discovered Jana has been suffering severe congestive heart failure as a consequence of the aggressive therapies used to treat her leukemia in childhood. As a part of her treatment and follow up care, Jana has undergone several additional health screenings and I am deeply saddened to share that she has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. The timing of this news has been truly humbling following two milestones we've recently celebrated. First, Jana’s heart function has made a remarkable jump from 18%(EF) to 40% after several months of treatment. And the momentous update that after three years of fostering , Jana and Bryce are preparing to adopt in late April. While sitting in the tension of the unknown is not new to our family, we are again reminded of what it really means to be brought down to our foundation. Acknowledging disappointment and grief that can’t be put into words, while remaining present in joy and purpose, is only possible by surrendering each moment to God. There is a long road ahead as we learn more details about Jana’s staging, prognosis and treatment. We are so privileged to draw strength from the deep the roots of our community as we head into this valley.
