Supporting Challis and Family

Nampa, ID

Story

Challis, a 4-year-old boy, has had four surgeries and was diagnosed with hearing loss in his left ear. In December 2024, after a fall at daycare, he suddenly became completely deaf. A CT scan revealed he has Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL) due to Enlarged Vestibular Aqueduct (EVA), a condition that causes profound hearing loss. Challis is already learning sign language, and his parents are committed to learning ASL and Deaf culture to support him. They are also working with IESDB for guidance. However, both parents work full-time and have missed many hours for appointments and care for Challis as he has needed to be kept home since the fall in December. Challis will have Cochlear Implant surgery on February 20, 2025, with activation scheduled for March 3, 2025. We’re asking for donations to provide meals for the family during surgery and recovery to ease their burden. Your support will make a difference. How You Can Help! Want to make a difference? Pick a date and send a delivered meal to the family—bonus points if you want to drop it off yourself! Or, send a virtual DoorDash gift card so Lindsey can order dinner when needed. If you prefer, donate for freezer meals that Michelle will stock up for them.

Special Notes

-This is a family of 4. -They enjoy meat and potato-type meals. -No dietary restrictions and they're not picky. -Preferred meal delivery time is around 6 PM. - Feel free to think beyond dinner! Breakfast ideas, freezer meals, or anything that can stretch a meal would be greatly appreciated.
