Marie

Pigeon, MI

Story

This page is for Marie’s NETwork of amazing people who are supporting her on this rollercoaster ride. We all know cancer isn’t a walk on the beach, but if anyone can handle this with sass and strength, it’s Marie. And guess what? She needs every ounce of support we’ve got. Marie is 38, married to an amazing guy, and has three wild boys who keep her on her toes. She lives in the Thumb of Michigan (yes, that’s a real place), and was a respiratory therapist who knew all about breathing through tough situations. Now she’s breathing through NETs (Neuroendocrine Tumors), but don’t worry, she’s got this. The tumors are well-behaved, and there’s minimal (if any) spreading. Basically, they’re one of the most polite tumors out there, and we’re here to make sure they stay that way. This group is for you—the family, the friends, the cheerleaders, and the people who are standing by Marie while she kicks cancer’s butt. This is your space to support her family with meals, provide childcare and rides, to love on her boys when she is feeling sick, to plan times to NETflix and Heal, and to encourage her to keep fighting. This webpage will also help give her a space to update everyone in an easy way. So grab your coffee (or wine, we don’t judge) and join us in this journey of hope, strength, and a whole lot of attitude. NETs can’t handle our girl! Together, we’re gonna make this journey a little easier, a lot brighter, and maybe even a little more fun. Beach, Please - Let’s Beat NETs!

Special Notes

Since the diagnosis, the Scott family has prioritized eating a more clean and healthy diet. Marie was given a pretty extensive list of foods that she should eat and foods to avoid, please communicate with her if you want to include her in the meal. It is okay to just plan on making food for Matt and the boys as Marie's dietary restrictions are pretty demanding and she will have days that she just doesn't want to eat. Matt does travel for a day or two weekly. The schedule for providing meals is very open, someone is usually home during the day to receive drop-offs. Please feel free to communicate with them if you want to do a different day during the week, the days are only suggestions. Favorite Meals or Restaurants: Local restaurants: Rachels, Thumb Brewery, Beachy's, Blue Water Inn Pizza, Cottage Inn, Subway, Lugos, Emma's coffee shop. Panera, Tropical smoothie cafe, Clean Eats, Jimmy Johns, Pita Way. Least Favorite Meals: Chicken Cacciatore Allergies or Dietary Restrictions: peanuts, tree nuts, bananas, almonds are safe In the spirit of trying to make things easier, any help would be great and disposable containers would be appreciated.

MESSAGES

Joanne Sopko
All costs on us, of course: Our church is having a fundraiser dinner for a mission trip on Saturday 3/29 from4-7 pm. The food is all made-from-scratch. Wondering if we could either (1) bring the family a dinner - there's a menu to pick from, or (2) I can see if I can recruit my daughter Megan Sopko and her son/Redlands buddy Owen Sopko & we could take the kids to the dinner, bringing Mom & Dad some back if they would like some. 100% of all proceeds will go toward our Mission Trip to Alaska for an In the Park Children’s Bible School Dine In or Take Out Menu: Baked Spaghetti, Mac-n-Cheese, Beef Tips & Noodles, Chicken Alfredo, Manicotti, Pizza Noodle Bake, Salads, Homemade French Bread & Garlic Sticks, Beverages & Authentic Italian Desserts Meatless & Gluten Free Options Available
