Story
Jen and Casey’s daughter Penelope had a freak accident from falling off a swing set last week. Day in and day out non-stop since last Sunday they have faced many challenges and many dr visits trying to pinpoint what could be causing so much pain. From scary answers like Penelope has septic arthritis and needs a helicopter ride to have emergency surgery, which ended up thankfully NOT being the outcome, to figuring out that she has a fractured ilium growth plate in the back of her pelvis. Penelope cannot sit up, cannot stand, cannot walk as of right now. She can lay flat otherwise she is screaming and crying in intense pain. Saturday night she was rushed to CHOP in KOP last night when her fever spiked. no sooner did they look over her entire week’s worth of chaos and do more bloodwork—they were rush transferred via ambulance over to CHOP in Philly. She’s battling a serious infection in her sacroiliac joint that’s wreaking havoc on her body & keeping her bedridden. After being seen by countless doctors they finally have a diagnosis. Sacroiliitis and Myositis. The sacroiliac joint has major inflammation and fluid which is the infection and then the inflammation goes down into the base of her spine at the nerves. The antibiotics they have her on for the bone infection are tackling both the joint infection and the myositis, which is her muscle connected to her joint being infected too. She’s making major progress as of this afternoon. She finally sat up herself and tried to hobble on her foot. They’re bringing physical therapy in to help her regain walking. They said she won’t be leaving until she’s 90% better. Which means CHOP is their home until Penelope can physically walk out the doors on her own.🏥 What I’m asking for is either gift cards to help defray the cost of having to eat hospital food constantly or so when they come home with Penelope they don’t have to worry about cooking and can focus on getting her back to her normal self and spending time with their youngest daughter Ausha who they have been away from during all of this. Her Venmo is attached to this if you would rather make any kind of small donation. Or just a simple prayer that things turn around fast. Any little thing will help.
