Supporting Ray’s Recovery

Pittsburgh, PA

Story

Hello Everyone, Welcome! Ray was diagnosed with a chordoma on January 15 and will be receiving tumor removing surgery February 17. His surgery will be long and complicated (10 hours!) and then he will stay in the ICU for some days before he begins his recovery at home. The doctors have explained that recovery from this kind of surgery is very painful. Roughly 6 months after his surgery, Ray may need to travel to another city to receive proton beam therapy which will require him to be in the hospital for 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Cassandra and Susan and John and Neville will be by his side and will benefit from support during this time. My parents have set up a Caring Bridge site https://www.caringbridge.org/site/ef62a90d-d5c0-11ef-8590-db32fcc3f9c2?utm_source=website_share&utm_medium=share_button&utm_term=&utm_content=link_share_button&utm_campaign=private_home_page for other updates about the recovery. This page will be utilitized mostly for organizing visits and other kinds of support for what we know will be a long journey. David Bucholtz, and I, Margaret Van Cleve, Ray's twin sister, will be working together to arrange support so that my parents and Ray & Cass can focus on Ray's recovery. Neither of us is local to Pittsburgh, but we'll do our best to manage through texts & calls & emails. My contact information is: mnvancleve@gmail.com +1412 841 4662 David's contact information is: bucholtz.david@gmail.com +1 412 760 6295 We are so grateful for all of the support we've received so far. Thank you all

Special Notes

A reminder that Ray is allergic to apples, pears, along with stone fruit (peaches, plums, cherries). Thanks!
