Supporting Henry’s Fight with Pancreatic Cancer

Story

My dad has worked hard his whole life. He sacrificed for his family, saved diligently, attended every basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball game, and raised us all to believe that there is beauty and goodness in the world. He is a man of Faith, a man of his Word, and a man with great Love in his heart. He is also a man with inoperable cancer. Shortly after retirement, where he would finally enjoy the fruits of all his labor and sacrifice to spend more time with his 4 children and 3 grandchildren, Henry learned that he has a mass in the center of his pancreas over 6 cm in diameter. In medical terms, adenocarcinoma. The thing is, adenocarcinoma is a lot like being struck by lightning. By the time you feel something, it’s usually too late. The vast majority of people diagnosed will not survive. But Henry is a survivor. When he was an infant, he nearly suffocated due to fluid in his lungs. Doctors said it was a miracle. As a teenager, his appendix burst and he fought through the pain for several days before being taken to the hospital. Yet again, doctors considered it a miracle. A few years ago, he suffered a stroke that was left untreated for nearly a week. He was expected to have permanent damage to his brain. He made a full recovery. That’s right, a miracle. This is the biggest threat he has ever faced, but he is facing it head on. And he needs help. We are blessed to have MD Anderson Cancer Center only a 4 hour drive away. As the top cancer treatment center in the nation, the cost is steep. The initial consultation begins at $17,000 not counting treatment. We are asking for your help financially, emotionally, and spiritually. We need Henry to have another miracle. This battle can’t be fought alone, so we thank you for helping to bring healing to someone so deserving of life. “You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.” Job 14:5 NLT

Special Notes

While we appreciate a good meal train, Henry is maintaining a special diet to help his pain, so grocery store gift cards are a better way to show him your love Henry and his wife will be making a lot of 8 hour round trips to Houston and back, so gas money/gift cards are just as helpful.
