Dominique's father, Richard, is a diabetic who recently underwent surgery to remove his leg after suffering from sepsis. He is still hopitalized and will move to a rehabilitation center once his wounds are healed. There he will undergo intense physical therapy, will be fitted with a prosthetic leg and learn how to ambulate again. Dominique's mother, Beverly, is bed ridden and requires continual care. Beverly's brother has offered to reside with Beverly and provide care as needed. Preparing meals while providing continual care is difficult to manage, so meals are most welcome.
