Love and Support for Ginger and Family

Hello everyone, It is wonderful to see all of us come together to help Ginger and the Lakhani Family. This is truly what community and friendship is all about. Thank you for being here. We received Ginger's chemo schedule. It’s subject to change but as of now she’ll have chemo on these dates: Wednesday April 2 (this is definite!) Tuesday April 22 Tuesday May 13 Tuesday June 3 In the Care Calendar, you can sign up to bring dinner (or have it delivered) on these days as well as the four days following each treatment. These few days after chemo will likely be the most difficult, and it will get hardest toward the end due to the cumulative effect. So, the meals will be helpful. Don’t feel confined to just dinners on these specific days; we may want to drop off flowers or food or other little gifts for Ginger and the family on other days as well. Ginger’s mother, Pam, has flown into town and will be staying with the family to help through the chemo process. She’ll be one of our main points of contact, and her number is included below. You can text Pam and Ginger on the day you plan to drop a meal (or have it delivered) so they’re aware. Also— if you cook something, please consider using disposable trays etc… so we’re not tasking anyone with dishwashing and then coordinating the returning of things. Feel free to reach out to Kelli or Miranda if you have any questions. We will be updating you as we receive more information and what seems to be most helpful for the Lakhani's. Ginger's Diet: - Heavy in veggies, fruits, whole grains, beans, seeds, nuts, salmon, and other fish high in Omega-3. - Lots of liquids: ginger tea, green tea, lemons, chicken broth (broth is acceptable, just not meat) Restrictions for Ginger: - No meat - processed sugar - overly spicy - no dairy (except yogurt) - no alcohol - nothing that is considered inflammatory Dishes to consider: - Curries - Soups - Bean Dishes - Salads - Veggie dishes Want to order take out? The family enjoys: - Jambo Cafe (veggie curries) https://jambocafe.net - Paper Dosa (any vegetarian meal) https://www.paper-dosa.com - Bumble Bee's (vegetarian burrito's) https://www.bumblebeesbajagrill.com No pork for family Iman, Fatima, Kahir, Hafeez, and Pam do eat chicken and beef. DoorDash certificates are also an option - Hafeez or Pam can order for the entire family.
