Dear Kind-Hearted Individuals, I'm reaching out with a heavy heart, seeking assistance for myself and two incredibly vulnerable neighbors, Christian and Kitty. We all live in the same apartment complex, but our situations are dire. Christian and Kitty are both completely blind and rely heavily on caregivers who, unfortunately, are often unreliable in their schedules. This leaves them without consistent meals and support, especially during mornings and evenings. I've taken on the responsibility of trying to help them, ensuring they have at least some food and assistance. However, I'm facing significant challenges. I recently moved into my apartment after a period of homelessness and am struggling to maintain a stable food supply myself. My refrigerator is nearly empty, and I lack the resources to consistently provide for all of us. The stress of trying to feed Christian and Kitty while managing my own health is overwhelming. I'm diabetic, anemic, and suffer from high blood pressure, making consistent nutrition absolutely essential. Yet, I can't eat comfortably knowing they're going hungry. Adding to the complexity, I'm not mobile and unfamiliar with the area. Taking Christian and Kitty outside, even for essential errands like grocery shopping, is a daunting task. They are understandably scared and feel unsafe leaving their apartments, which further isolates them. The uncertainty of their caregivers showing up only adds to the stress and instability of their lives. Because I'm considered a single individual, I'm finding it difficult to access support for them. I feel an immense responsibility for their well-being, but I'm stretched beyond my limits. I’m doing everything I can, but the lack of food and consistent support is creating a desperate situation for all of us.
