Story
Thank you for following Ashlee and Ben’s journey and all the outpouring of support you have sent. Your prayers are powerful and have kept us all lifted and moving forward through the hard and mundane. We started this page in March when Ben was diagnosed with melanoma and underwent surgery on April 8, 2024. He had lifting restrictions put on him which created an extra hurdle for the family as Ashlee has been on a long health journey herself and has limited capacity. Thank you for the support in this leg of the journey. It means so much and is truly humbling. Today is August 23, 2024. We have had a summer filled with ups and downs which you can read in Ashlee’s blog below should you feel so inclined to do so. She is a beautiful writer and expresses herself very well (in my mom opinion 😊) We have some encouraging news!! Ashlee is finally scheduled for surgery on October 2, 2024. This will be for the MALS (Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome). We are grateful she found a surgeon and hospital in Minnesota. This is an absolute blessing! You can read more about this in her blog soon. There will be much more to her journey and probably additional surgeries in the future, but we are hopeful in the healing that will come from this one. I know with all my heart God is still in the business of miracles, and I believe He is guiding this entire journey. We may be updating the calendar soon with some help with the kiddos or meals. But between Ben’s lovely parents and I we can juggle a lot. But sometimes the kiddos just need a break from us too as they are an extremely active bunch 😊! You can read her blog here: https://sunshinejournal13.blogspot.com/?m=1 Prayers are powerful. We welcome all prayers for our faith, strength, courage, patience, endurance, trust, hope…. 🙏🙏
Special Notes
Ashlee’s diet is very restricted, Gluten-free and Dairy Free. After surgery she will start with liquids and work her way to eating small portions. There are pre-made protein shakes on her Amazon wishlist. Ben and the Kids can eat most anything. Things like bbqs, pulled Turkey, or ham for sandwiches… tacos, hotdish, spaghetti… anything that’s easy to reheat or throw in a crockpot :) Kids love fruit, such as apples, pears, strawberries, cantaloupe (Violet)
